You can now use Alexa+ on the web to plan meals and order groceries

A few weeks ago, Alexa.com quietly went live for some users, giving them early access to Amazon’s next-generation Alexa+ assistant through a web browser. Now, Amazon has made it official through a formal announcement at CES 2026.

Alexa+ was first announced in February 2025, but it was limited to Amazon hardware, such as Echo speakers, Fire devices, or mobile apps. By giving it a home on the web, Amazon is clearly positioning Alexa+ as a competitor to chat-based assistants like Gemini, ChatGPT, and Perplexity.

What you can do with Alexa+ on the web

On Alexa.com, users will be able to chat with Alexa+ much like they would with any modern AI assistant. That includes asking general questions, summarizing documents, and breaking down complex topics into simpler explanations.

Amazon says Alexa+ on the web will handle things like meal planning, including pulling in Amazon Fresh or Whole Foods to help order groceries. It can also extract key details from documents, such as dates or appointments, and add them directly to your calendar.

Smart home controls are also built into the web interface, letting users check security cameras, adjust lights, change thermostat settings, or unlock doors without switching apps or devices.

There is also continuity built in. Conversations, preferences, and personalization will carry across devices, so what you start on the web can pick up on your phone or an Echo later.

Alexa+ can also help find movies and shows and send recommendations to Fire TV, if you have one. On Prime Video, it can drop you straight into that scene you love to rewatch.

As Amazon adds more capabilities, Alexa’s evolution is becoming harder to ignore. That momentum is already visible, with Alexa recently adding more conversational AI features, including shopping and travel planning integrations with services like Expedia and Yelp.

Alexa+ on the web is available through Alexa.com and is currently limited to users with Early Access. Pricing remains the same, with Alexa+ costing $20 per month, while Prime subscribers get access at no extra cost.
