Your wait for a refreshed Apple Studio Display may be nearly over

Apple’s Studio Display is long overdue for a refresh. Launched in 2022, the current model features a 27-inch 5K IPS panel with a 60Hz refresh rate and packs the A13 Bionic chip. Recent leaks suggest that Apple is finally preparing a meaningful upgrade that could bring a new chip, a 120Hz panel, and HDR support. A new report now claims the revamped Studio Display could launch in the coming months.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple’s new Studio Display “has been in the works for some time,” and is “slated for a launch in the first half of 2026.” While Gurman hasn’t confirmed an exact date, Apple could unveil the Studio Display refresh as early as March. The company launched the original model in March 2022, and it appeared in a regulatory filing roughly three months before its debut.

Similarly, an unreleased Apple monitor was spotted in a regulatory filing last month, suggesting Apple may follow a similar timeline for the upcoming model. As for the upgrades, rumor has it that the new Studio Display will pack Apple’s A19 chip, a ProMotion display with 120Hz refresh rate, and HDR support.

New MacBooks may not be far behind

Gurman further notes that Apple’s broader Mac refresh is also approaching. An updated MacBook Air with the M5 chip is reportedly not far off, while M5 Pro and M5 Max variants of the MacBook Pro “have already been staged in shipping warehouses globally, ready for release.”

Alongside these updates, Apple also appears to be prepping a new version of its premium Pro Display XDR, which has started to show its age. Previous reports indicate that the monitor could feature a built-in webcam, a 7K resolution panel, Thunderbolt 4/5 ports, embedded Apple silicon, and display technology improvements. However, it’s still unclear when this upgraded model may hit the market.
