Your first look at the Steam Machine may be just days away

Valve has already confirmed a summer 2026 window for its Steam Machine, and recent FCC filings pointed to June 29 as the rumored launch date. Now, a new leak suggests the hardware may already be in reviewers’ hands, making the rumored timeline a lot less theoretical.

According to the Steam Hardware Update account on X, Valve has already shipped Steam Machine review units to a select group of reviewers and content creators.

So what is reportedly inside the Steam Machine review package?

Per the leak, the hardware review embargo lifts after June 23. Shortly after that, the company could unveil details about the pricing and pre-order timeline between June 22 and June 30, making a July or August retail launch more plausible than ever (via Notebookcheck).

Beyond the console, reviewers allegedly received a Steam Controller, along with mounting brackets and interchangeable faceplates. Whether that accessory bundle is a part of the retail packages is unclear.

The leak also briefly mentions the Steam Frame but notes that it is uncertain whether the device will launch simultaneously with the Steam Machine.

Steam Machine with Steam Controller

Why is the Steam community still holding its breath?

Simply because this is not the first time Steam Machine hardware rumors have surfaced and gone nowhere. Multiple reports about Valve hardware imports generated excitement before fizzling out.

The June 29 date has been on the community’s radar since a Reddit user noted that Steam Machine’s FCC filing lists that date as when its user manual and product images become public.

The theory, which we’ve covered last week, holds that Valve followed the same pattern with the Steam Controller, publishing its manual only after the device was already on sale. If that holds here, Valve could launch the Steam Machine before June 29.
