You’ll soon be able to take quizzes in WhatsApp channels

WhatsApp is working on a new feature for Channels that could give admins another way to interact with followers. The tool, spotted in the latest beta release for iOS, lets admins create multiple-choice quizzes, adding a more interactive option alongside existing features like polls.

The quiz feature, first seen in an Android beta release last week, works pretty much like polls with one key difference. Unlike polls, a quiz requires admins to specify the correct answer before sharing it on the channel. When members select an option, WhatsApp immediately shows whether their answer is correct and plays a brief confetti animation if the correct answer is chosen.

According to WABetaInfo, channel admins can create a new quiz by opening the attachment menu and selecting the new Quiz option. On the following page, they can enter a question and add multiple possible answers, which can be plain text, images, or a combination of both. Before publishing, admins also have to mark one answer as correct.

Admins get detailed results of the quiz, including how many times an option was picked and which members participated. For members in the admin’s contacts, all their details are visible. Meanwhile, for members who are not in the admin’s contacts, only limited information is shown, depending on the member’s privacy settings.

Quizzes are live for a small group of beta users

WhatsApp’s new Quiz feature is currently available for a few users in the latest beta releases for iOS and Android. Like other features tested through WhatsApp’s beta program, it may take some time before quizzes become more widely available.

WhatsApp has yet to share a timeline for a public release and has not confirmed whether the feature will launch with the same functionality seen in the beta builds. The company is expected to share more details once the feature is ready for a wider rollout.
