You can finally access Google Photos on Samsung TVs

For years, accessing Google Photos on a TV has been… unnecessarily complicated. You either had to cast from your phone, rely on screensavers, or just give up entirely. But that’s finally changing.

Having previously teased, Google has announced on the official support channel that Google Photos is now officially making its way to Samsung TVs. It’s bringing native access to your photo library right on the big screen, without any workarounds needed.

How does Google Photos work on Samsung TVs?

This isn’t just a basic gallery app, but a deeper integration. The rollout starts with a feature called “Memories,” which automatically curates your photos and videos into collections based on people, places, and moments. It’s essentially the same experience you get on your phone, just scaled up for your TV.

All you need to do is sign in with your Google account, and your photos show up instantly, turning your TV into a sort of living room photo frame. Interestingly, Samsung is getting this feature first, even before Google’s own Android TV platform gets a proper Google Photos app.

Why this is actually a bigger deal than it sounds

At first glance, this might seem like a small update, but it fixes a long-standing gap. Despite Google Photos being one of the most widely used photo services, there’s never really been a proper TV experience for it. This changes that by making photos a first-class feature on your TV, not just an afterthought.

And it doesn’t stop at just viewing photos. Later in 2026, Samsung TVs are expected to get additional features like AI-powered edits, themed slideshows, and even turning photos into short videos, making the experience far more interactive. At the end of the day, this isn’t just about viewing photos on a bigger screen but about making your TV feel more personal. And honestly, it’s kind of wild that it took this long to happen.
