Sony makes some of the best wireless earbuds you can buy, but its WF-1000XM5 are starting to show their age. Recent leaks suggest that the company could unveil its next-gen WF-1000XM6 as early as February, with updates like support for DSEE Ultimate upscaling. Now, a fresh leak hints that Sony may offer the earbuds in a cool new colorway.
Sony offered two color options for the WF-1000XM5 at launch, before introducing a Smoky Pink colorway the following year. It appears that the company will continue this three-color strategy with the upcoming WF-1000XM6, with trusted tipster Roland Quandt claiming that it will come in a Sandpink colorway.
It’s not immediately clear if Sony will offer all three colors at launch or release two colors initially and introduce the third later down the line. As for the Sandpink finish, it’s difficult to say what it might look like until images surface online.
More details remain under wraps
Little is known about the Sony WF-1000XM6’s design at this point, but the earbuds are expected to bring meaningful audio quality improvements. Support for DSEE Ultimate would be a notable addition, potentially offering improved real-time audio upscaling for compressed files. This could help Sony solidify the earbuds’ position as one of the best in the market for enthusiasts.
There’s no concrete evidence on battery life improvements, charging case upgrades, or noise cancellation enhancements. With a potential February launch window, more leaks and official teasers are likely to surface soon revealing additional details about the flagship earbuds.
