Vizio accounts are merging with your Walmart account, or just going away

Vizio is finally merging its account system with Walmart, and you’ve got a decision to make. You can link your old profile to a Walmart login or delete it for good.

The shift comes after Walmart closed its Vizio acquisition in December 2024. By February 1, 2026, Vizio was officially a Walmart private label brand. An email to customers explains how access to Vizio OS products is changing. New Vizio Smart TVs will now walk buyers through setup with an option to connect their existing Vizio Account to a Walmart login.

Current owners can exhale. You don’t need to touch your television right now. The merge or delete prompt hits older devices sometime later.

What happens to your data

Choose to merge and your information lives under two policies. It’ll be processed according to both the Vizio Privacy Policy and the Walmart Customer Privacy Notice. The company points to a page with finer details.

The alternative is deleting your Vizio Account entirely. You can request a copy of your info within 30 days of making that delete request. A form exists for that purpose. After that window closes, your information may no longer be available.

The notice doesn’t touch on how features might shift for merged accounts. It sticks strictly to the login transition and the privacy stuff.

When the change hits your screen

The merge option debuts on newly purchased Smart TVs. Buy a fresh Vizio set and the setup process hits you with the link or delete choice immediately. The company hasn’t locked in a start date, only that it begins with new hardware.

Electronics, Screen, Computer Hardware

For people with existing Vizio TVs, the option comes later. The email promises opportunities for current customers to merge will arrive in the future. No timeline attached.

New buyers face the decision now. Longtime owners get a longer runway before the prompt appears.

What you should do now

Nothing yet. Own a Vizio TV already? Keep using it. The merge or delete screen isn’t live on existing hardware.

When it does show, you’ll have time to decide. You can read both privacy policies ahead of time to understand how each company handles your data. Links live in the email.

The only people who need to act immediately are those buying a new Vizio TV. During setup, you pick. Merge keeps your viewing history and settings tied to a Walmart login. Delete wipes your old account data and lets you start fresh.
