I’ve been a professional deal hunter for 13 years, and gift card deals are always enticing to me. But there’s a catch: These deals are only worthwhile if you were planning on spending the money anyway. It’s easy to find ways to justify buying a discounted gift card, but you shouldn’t get one just to get one. However, thanks to Amazon Prime Day, there are several discounted gift cards available for a wide range of restaurants, stores, and services. If you frequently visit them, these deals could be worthwhile, especially with so many of us trying to spend less.

Maybe you go to Taco Bell or IHOP a lot. Snag $50 to spend for $40. Maybe your kid is asking for Roblox money for their birthday. Get $50 worth for $43. Or maybe you frequently visit Petco to stock up on food or supplies for your fuzzy family members. There’s a gift card deal for you, too. Additional options range from movie theaters and ice cream parlors to beauty stores and even spa services. Some gift cards have limits or redemption requirements, so make sure to check the fine print before purchasing. But the selection is worth a look, especially while there are still so many options to choose from.
