The Galaxy S27 Ultra could finally deliver the camera upgrades you’ve been waiting for

Samsung is gearing up to launch its next-gen Galaxy S series devices, with recent reports suggesting that the company plans to host a Galaxy Unpacked event later this month to unveil the Galaxy S26 lineup. While the official announcement is still weeks away, a steady stream of leaks has already revealed several key details about the upcoming devices.

Recent leaks indicate that the top-end Galaxy S26 Ultra will only bring minor camera upgrades. The phone is said to feature a 200MP main camera with a wider aperture, a 50MP ultrawide camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto camera, a 12MP secondary telephoto camera, and a 12MP selfie shooter.

With camera hardware that closely mirrors the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the upcoming flagship may offer limited incentive for users considering an upgrade. A fresh leak gives prospective buyers one more reason to hold off for another year.

According to a recent post from trusted tipster Ice Universe on X, Samsung apparently has more substantial camera upgrades planned for the Galaxy S27 Ultra. While the device is expected to retain the same telephoto cameras, it could come with new main, ultrawide, and front sensors.

Big changes after another year of incremental upgrades

There’s no word on the exact specifications, with the leaker only claiming that Samsung will replace these sensors on its 2027 flagship. Given that the Galaxy S27 series is still over a year away and likely in the early stages of development, this information should be taken with a grain of salt.

For now, the focus remains firmly on Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series. Although leaks have offered an early glimpse of what to expect, the full picture won’t be clear until the company officially unveils the devices. Until then, prospective buyers will have to wait to see whether the S26 lineup delivers meaningful upgrades or if more exciting changes will arrive with next year’s models.
