In 2026, the lines between “console” and “PC” have finally dissolved. We’ve moved past the era of clunky, loud gaming laptops and entered the age of the “Anywhere PC.” These handhelds have matured from enthusiast prototypes into polished daily drivers that let you play Cyberpunk 2077 on the train and then instantly dock to a hotel TV for a desktop-like experience.

If you’re ready to break free from the desk, here is the ultimate mobile loadout.

The handhelds

Valve – Steam Deck OLED 1TB (~$780)

If you want the “it just works” factor, Valve is still the king. The OLED model features arguably the best HDR screen in gaming, with perfect blacks that make dark dungeons in Elden Ring look incredible. It runs SteamOS, which means no fighting with Windows drivers—you just turn it on and play. It is currently 8% off, dropping the price to $780.

Lenovo – Legion Go S (~$800)

Electronics, Mobile Phone, Phone

For those who want raw performance, the “S” model is the one to beat. It trims the bulk of the original Legion Go but keeps the gorgeous 1440p screen and ramps the refresh rate up to 120Hz. This version runs SteamOS natively but packs the Ryzen Z1 Extreme chip, giving you higher frame rates in demanding AAA titles than the Deck. It’s currently $100 off, sitting at $799.99.

The loadout

SanDisk – Extreme PLUS 1TB microSDXC (~$190)

Modern PC games are massive—Call of Duty alone can eat up 200GB. You need fast, reliable expansion. This card is rated A2 for app performance, meaning your games will load almost as fast as they do from the internal SSD. It’s the essential upgrade to keep your entire backlog offline and ready to play.

UGREEN – 9-in-1 Docking Station (~$40)

Computer Hardware, Electronics, Hardware

This is how you turn your handheld into a desktop. This foldable dock gives you HDMI 4K output, Gigabit Ethernet for fast downloads, and enough USB ports to connect a mouse and keyboard. It is currently 33% off, making it a steal at $39.98 compared to the official first-party docks.

The bottom line

The era of being tethered to a desk is over. If you prioritize ease of use, battery life, and that “console” feel, the Steam Deck OLED remains the undefeated champion. However, if you are chasing higher frame rates in modern AAA titles, the Legion Go S justifies the price with its superior Z1 Extreme chip. Whichever you choose, do not skip the UGREEN Dock; it’s the single accessory that transforms these from simple handhelds into legitimate travel computers.
