Silent Hill 2 Remake Developer Reveals Gameplay For Cronos: The New Dawn

Horror developer Bloober Team made a big splash last year with its remake of Silent Hill 2, a game our reviewer called “engrossing and unsettling.” Today, it revealed gameplay for a new, original IP called Cronos: The New Dawn. You can check out the trailer below.

Cronos takes place in two time periods: ‘80s-era Poland and the post-apocalyptic future. As a time-hopping Traveller, the third-person survival horror game pits you against Orphans, fleshy, tentacled humans. Your mission is to rescue key people from the past before they perish in the supernatural horrors that have overtaken the world.

This trailer also introduces the merge mechanic, where downed enemies need to be burned in order to stop them from combining with living enemies, transforming them into a new, more powerful creature. I appreciate the complexity this will add to combat, hopefully setting it apart from similar games in the genre.

Cronos: The New Dawn comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC later this year.
