Samsung’s next clamshell folding phone could end up being a disappointment in the battery department. Despite the Galaxy Z Flip 7 seeing a humble battery bump, its successor might not bring a similar upgrade. This is quite the bummer for anyone expecting Samsung to improve the battery life on its flip phone.
What’s in the leak?
According to a GalaxyClub report, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 may use two battery cells rated at 1,150mAh and 3,024mAh. This gives it a total rated capacity of 4,174mAh, which will likely be marketed as 4,300mAh. If the leak is true, this would mean the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s battery is basically identical to the Z Flip 7.
Samsung’s 2025 flip phone made a tiny jump in battery capacity, but even the small jump was appreciated, considering the older battery size. Aside from the battery details, the report talked about the Galaxy Z Flip 8’s launch window. It seems Samsung might stick to the usual timelines and release the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 sometime in July.

For now, Samsung has yet to confirm any official details regarding its next flip phones. Though the theme might be incremental upgrades once again. Just like with the standard Galaxy S26 models, the brand appears to be updating only the higher-end devices from its premium line. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is getting new features like the Privacy Display, while the Z Fold 8 is expected to offer a crease-free display experience. However, this is still just an unconfirmed report, so take this news with a grain of salt.
