Samsung debuted its first compact projector, the Freestyle, at CES in 2022 and followed it up with a modest refresh a year later. The second-generation model came with a few additional features, with the standout one being the ability to pair two projectors to create an ultrawide display.

Now, as we draw closer to CES 2026, Samsung has teased a new model that looks largely unchanged on the outside but brings the biggest upgrade the lineup has seen so far. According to Samsung, the upcoming Freestyle+ will offer “smarter AI capabilities, improved brightness and expanded entertainment features.”

The projector will offer a suite of AI-powered screen optimization technologies called AI OptiScreen, including 3D Auto Keystone, real-time focus, screen fit, and wall calibration. These features will be paired with Samsung’s Vision AI Companion, a personalized platform that “integrates enhanced Bixby with AI services from global partners to enable more natural, conversational interaction with on-screen content.”

The Freestyle+ will offer almost double the brightness

Most notably, Samsung says it has upped the brightness of the Freestyle+ to 430 ISO Lumens, meaning it delivers nearly twice the brightness of the previous generation. Other features are expected to remain largely unchanged, with the projector featuring the same cylindrical design and a 180-degree rotating base.

The Freestyle+ will also include a built-in 360-degree speaker with support for Samsung Q-Symphony. On the software front, the projector will feature Samsung TV Plus, various streaming services, and Samsung Gaming Hub.

Pricing and availability information is also under wraps and will likely be revealed when Samsung showcases the Freestyle+ at CES in Las Vegas next week. However, the company has confirmed that the projector will launch globally and will receive a phased rollout in the first half of the year. If Samsung gets the pricing right this time around, the Freestyle+ could finally position itself as one of the best portable projectors of 2026.
