Samsung Wallet’s Digital Key feature can now unlock your Porsche

Samsung introduced a digital car key feature in its Wallet app back in 2021, allowing users to lock and unlock their cars using a Galaxy device. At launch, the feature supported a handful of car models, but Samsung has since expanded support to several cars from BMW, Mini, Genesis, Kia, Hyundai, and Mercedes-Benz. Earlier this year, the company added select Volvo and Polestar EVs to the roster, and it’s now adding a few Porsche models to the list.

In a recent blog post, Samsung has revealed that Galaxy users can now use the digital key feature with the 2026 Porsche Macan. Samsung Wallet will expand support to additional Porsche models next year, including the upcoming Cayenne Electric. With digital key support, Porsche drivers will be able to lock, unlock, and start their cars using a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone. In addition, the feature will allow drivers to easily give friends or family temporary access to their cars by sharing the digital key through Samsung Wallet.

Samsung Wallet’s Digital Key feature lets users wirelessly control their car via UWB or NFC. As such, it only works on Galaxy devices with a UWB chip or NFC support. The list of supported devices is extensive, and includes flagship models going back to the Galaxy S20 series, Galaxy foldables, and even select Galaxy A series devices, such as the Galaxy A36 and A56.

Samsung notes that Digital Key support for Porsche vehicles will become available through the Wallet app on all compatible devices this month in Europe, followed by a global rollout “aligned with the launch timeline of Porsche vehicles.” To try the feature, Galaxy users can check compatibility in Samsung’s announcement post and follow the instructions on the company’s Digital Key support page to register their digital key in the Samsung Wallet app.
