I’d happily hand off half my to-do list if the helper didn’t need to be re-explained every morning. Well, it looks like Perplexity thinks it has built that helper.

Perplexity launched Teammates on Thursday. It basically refers to the personal AI agents that take on ongoing work from a high-level goal. They’ll be available first to Max subscribers on the web (via Perplexity).

Today, we’re launching Perplexity Teammates.
They are personal agents for work. And change the paradigm from writing prompts in a session to giving high-level goals. Rolling out to Max users on the web today. Native apps (mobile, desktop) coming soon. pic.twitter.com/dmYIuw52Yb

What can Perplexity Teammates actually do?

Back in February, Perplexity launched Computer, its multi-model agent (also for its Max tier). I ran in temporary sandbox sessions or workspaces that vanished after each job. Teammates, by contrast, stick around.

CEO Aravind Srinivas calls them persistent coworkers that take over responsibilities and get tasks done end to end. They already have all the content about your Projects, Memory, Skills, connectors, files, and past sessions.

Perplexity’s examples span a variety of use cases, including those in marketing, sales, support, and operations. For instance, Teammates can triage bugs, run QA loops, monitor security, analyze data, and even manage A/B tests.

Teammates build on your Projects, Memory, and Skills that already exist in Perplexity and Computer. This allows you to bootstrap from what you already have inside. All your existing connectors, files, and past sessions have already onboarded your teammates.

Unlike some humans, Teammates can also learn from their mistakes and feedback. In the demo, an ads teammate spots creator ads beating the customer acquisition cost target, preps a bigger campaign, and sends its contract extension to the legal team.

The brand director says to do that every time without asking next time.

Who can use Teammates, and who else is chasing this?

If you add a teammate to a chaHow to use Slacknnel in Slack, coworkers can hand it work, while it watches the channel and acts when something changes (the way it’s programmed). Each runs in its own environment, and you can review its work, take over its desktop, or redirect it.

That takes more than just a frontier model. Agents need to remember you and the org, learn to work with each other and with your coworkers, run on their own, and get better every time you correct them. Teammates is our first step toward that.

Beyond the web, Teammates are also coming to iOS. Srinivas says native mobile and desktop apps are coming. Free and Pro users must upgrade to Max, though, which costs $200 per month.

None of this is happening in a vacuum, though. OpenAI’s workspace agents, Microsoft’s Copilot Cowork, Grok Bot, and Anthropic’s Claude Cowork are already chasing the same idea, though the first two target organizations rather than individual subscribers.
