A supposed Modern Warfare 4 cover art leak is circulating online, and the post sharing it already warns readers to be careful around fake leaks.

That caution fits the moment. Call of Duty speculation is moving quickly again, but the stronger thread is tied to platforms, not artwork.

Insider NateTheHate affirmed a user’s claim that the next Call of Duty should be the first game in the series on Nintendo Switch 2. The same claim has also been linked to Modern Warfare 4 as the title that would bring the franchise back to Nintendo hardware.

Microsoft has already signed a 10-year agreement to bring Call of Duty games to Nintendo platforms. A Modern Warfare 4 Switch 2 launch would show how that promise translates into an actual release.

How much can this leak show

The cover art side of the Modern Warfare 4 leak is thin. The image is blurry, heavily watermarked, and wrapped in the kind of online warning that usually tells readers to slow down.

That doesn’t make it useless. It shows how hungry the Call of Duty audience is for the next reveal, especially with Activision still quiet on the game itself.

The Nintendo claim has a clearer path. NateTheHate has been tied to the Switch 2 rumor, and the current chatter points to Modern Warfare 4, rather than Black Ops 7, as the series’ return to Nintendo hardware.

Why would Switch 2 change things

A Switch 2 version would shift the audience conversation around Call of Duty. Modern Warfare 4 would be the first game in the series to reach a Nintendo console in more than a decade.

The timing would also help Activision. The franchise has been described as coming off a rough 2025, with revenue down across platforms and PC playtime and gross falling sharply. A Nintendo launch would give Call of Duty another route to players outside the usual console and PC loop.

There’s still a hardware question. Earlier concerns around Call of Duty on Nintendo hardware haven’t disappeared, but Switch 2 is being framed as a more realistic target given other demanding games planned for the console.

What should readers watch next

Activision still hasn’t announced Modern Warfare 4, its cover art, or a Switch 2 version. Until that happens, the image stays unverified no matter how widely it spreads.

The platform plan deserves closer attention. Sledgehammer Games is also said to be working on additional Call of Duty Switch 2 ports, which would make Modern Warfare 4 the start of a wider Nintendo push rather than a single test case.

The next real signal should come from Activision, Xbox, or Nintendo. Watch for confirmation of the game, supported platforms, and whether Switch 2 is included at launch or held for a later release.
