Motorola has used the ongoing IFA 2026 show in Berlin to unveil the Edge 70 Plus, a new addition to the Edge 70 lineup that first arrived last November. The name suggests a straightforward upgrade, but the spec sheet is a little more mixed than that.

The biggest changes are easy to spot. Motorola has increased the battery from 4,800mAh on the Edge 70 to 6,500mAh, while the 50MP main camera has been replaced by a 200MP sensor. The Plus also moves to a larger 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate.

There are some areas where the regular Edge 70 still looks better on paper, though.

What does the Edge 70 Plus actually add?

The 6,500mAh battery is probably the most substantial upgrade. Motorola claims up to 42 hours of calls, 34 hours of video streaming, or 23 hours of social media use, although those figures come from its own testing. Charging tops out at 45W, compared with 68W on the Edge 70, and Motorola does not mention wireless charging for the Plus in its announcement.

The other major change is the camera. Its new 200MP main sensor gets OIS, 10x Super Zoom, and 4K video recording. Motorola says the sensor uses 16-to-1 pixel binning, producing 12.5MP images at its effective resolution. There is also a dedicated macro camera and a 32MP selfie camera.

By comparison, the regular Edge 70 has 50MP main, 50MP ultrawide, and 50MP selfie cameras. Motorola’s announcement does not list an ultrawide camera for the Plus.

Is everything actually an upgrade?

Interestingly, the Plus does not get a newer processor. It uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3, while the Edge 70 launched with the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4. Motorola pairs it with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of storage, compared with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB on the regular model.

Motorola Edge 70 Plus launched at IFA 2026

The 6.78-inch quad-curved AMOLED display runs at 144Hz, and the phone also gets Gorilla Glass 7i and MIL-STD-810H durability certification. Motorola is offering four Pantone colors with silk, acetate, and leather-inspired finishes.

The Edge 70 Plus will roll out across select countries in Europe and the Middle East over the coming weeks. Motorola has not announced pricing yet, which makes it difficult to judge how the larger battery and 200MP camera stack up against the regular Edge 70’s faster charging, different camera setup, and higher memory configurations.
