Hardcore Action Takes Centerstage in Mortal Shell II Announcement

Today’s Summer Game Fest event opened with a first look at Mortal Shell II, the new sequel coming from developer Cold Symmetry.

The action on display is certainly intense and gory, including an impressive cadre of disgusting monsters, and the protagonist inflicting grievous attacks on them, even as they return the same in kind.

The original Mortal Shell was released in 2020. At the time, the developers cited a desire for emotionally rich games and inspiration from games like Dark Souls, so it’s a good bet that the sequel is targeting similar goals. The game received positive reviews at the time, setting the stage for a sequel that might improve and advance the series to new heights.

Mortal Shell II is headed to PS5, Xbox, and Steam in 2026.
