Opening Night Live 2026 just gave us a first look at Warlock: Dungeons & Dragons in action, and there’s lots to dissect about what was shown.

In the new game under development by Invoke Studios, Players take on the role of a Warlock named Kaatri. The lead is played by Tricia Helfer (Battlestar Galactica) and her menacing patron is played by Maggie Robertson, who helped to scare players as Lady Dimitrescu in Resident Evil Village.

The debut gameplay leaned heavily into showing off the ways that Kaatri will use her Warlock magic to solve both environmental puzzles and take on combat in novel ways. At one point, she was able to stick a loose rock to a wall to create a platform. In another location, she completed a short-range teleport to cross a wide gap. In combat, she changed places with one of her foes just before being struck by a much larger monster. Elsewhere, she locked a giant monster in place with black tentacles in order to leverage a powerful attack spell that sent swords flying in from every direction into her foe.

The gameplay shows an interesting mix of classic third-person action combat, but instilled with a good bit of Dungeons & Dragons fiction, the appearance of classic monsters and magic from that fiction, and a heavy focus on dark magic – something that likely helps it feel quite different from other third-person adventures on the market.

Check out the gameplay in the video below.
