After Six Years, Katana Zero’s Free DLC Is Finally Almost Ready

When it arrived in 2019, Katana Zero quickly became a fan-favorite hack-and-slash indie game. Shortly after its launch, solo developer Justin Stander announced he was working on free downloadable content for the title. However, as the years have progressed, Stander’s silence has worried fans about its status. Aside from a few interviews and reassurances from Stander that the DLC is still coming, news for the continuation of Zero’s story has been few and far between. 

The DLC picks up right where the base story of Katana Zero left off. The narrative continues Zero’s story while giving players a new glimpse into his past. The free downloadable content will still be free to all who own the base game and will add new characters, levels, gameplay, and story, with the developer saying the size of the DLC is nearly the size of the original game, promising it will be worth the long wait.

We still don’t know when the DLC will arrive, but with its reemergence, hopefully, we’ll have a concrete date soon. Katana Zero earned an 83 out of 100 on Metacritic when it arrived in 2019, including a 7.75 out of 10 from Game Informer. You can read our full review here.
