Adobe has just announced that it’s bringing licensed music from Universal Music Group (UMG) and Warner Music Group (WMG) to its Adobe Premiere mobile app. Thanks to the partnership, users will be able to search for and find music from these two giants right in the app.

For social media users, this partnership also solves a huge problem. When people post content with music playing in the background, it’s often flagged for copyright violations on social media platforms. Now, if they pick a soundtrack distributed by either Universal Music Group or Warner Music Group, they can simply add it to their videos and post them freely across social media for personal use, without having to worry about copyright strikes and takedown notices.

The app will let users filter music by genre and duration, alongside the ability to bookmark their favorite tracks. There’s also going to be a featured collection where users can discover popular songs. On the editing side, there’s a bit of a restriction. Users can only add 60 seconds of a song to their video.

Adobe says the Premiere mobile app will also offer customizable templates with preloaded music, so users can dive into the editing workflow without wasting too much time scrolling through the licensed music library. Adobe assures that videos featuring its licensed songs can be freely shared across social media platforms.

Adobe says music from UMG and WMG will start appearing in the app soon, noting that these songs are only approved for personal use, not commercial purposes. If you’re a business that wants to use music from these labels, Adobe offers its own stock audio platform. However, it’s unclear whether the stock platform’s library includes the same UMG and WMG tracks that are available for personal use in the Premiere mobile app.

The Adobe Premiere app was released for iPhones last year, and it finally made its way to Android in September this year. Earlier this year, Adobe also added more AI-powered video editing tools to its desktop suite, while introducing a dedicated space for creating YouTube Shorts in the iPhone version of the mobile app.
