Over the last couple of years, I’ve seen Motorola start taking bolder steps by launching more premium products across different product lines. While the US market never saw a laptop release, regions such as India had a first look at the brand’s shifting priorities with the Moto Book series. Then came the Motorola Signature as a true flagship phone after a short break.

Now, we saw the release of the Motorola Signature 27, the best smartphone the brand has ever launched, and alongside it came the Moto Buds Ultra 27. This is Motorola’s most feature-packed earbuds yet. They combine Bose-tuned audio, adaptive noise cancellation, and a collection of AI-powered features, including real-time translation.

Motorola brought Bose to the audio battle

According to Motorola’s official announcement, the Moto Buds Ultra 27 feature a dual-driver setup combining an 11mm dynamic driver with a dedicated balanced armature for handling different frequencies. Bose’s SoundDesign tuning promises rich, detailed audio, while Bose QuietControl ANC automatically adapts to surrounding noise. Just like most premium earbuds, you also get a Transparency Mode that helps you be more aware of your surroundings.

The earbuds support Hi-Res Audio, Dolby Atmos, and Dolby Head Tracking, with the latter two requiring compatible Motorola smartphones. Each earbud also houses three high-SNR microphones and a dedicated Voice Pickup Unit, which Motorola says can improve call clarity and voice recordings.

Battery life is rated at up to eight hours on a single charge and 37 hours with the charging case. You also get wireless charging, IP57 water and dust resistance, and compatibility with Google’s Find Hub network.

New AI smarts to fight Apple and Samsung

Moto Buds Ultra 27 lifestyle

Aside from the solid hardware package, Motorola also made sure the software is just as advanced. The Moto Buds Ultra 27 support AI Live Translate, allowing users to hear translated conversations directly through their earbuds. However, the feature requires a compatible Motorola phone with the built-in translation app, and language availability varies.

The company is also bringing in Motorola Qira integration, which is accessible by long-pressing the left earbud to ask questions or request assistance. Motorola plans to introduce hands-free “Hey Qira” activation in the coming months. Other useful additions include Head Gestures, allowing users to answer or reject calls by nodding or shaking their head, alongside Wear Detection, Dual Connection, and Audio Share.

The Moto Buds Ultra 27 will be available in the United States in the coming months, though Motorola hasn’t announced an official US price or release date.
