Gamescom’s Opening Night Live showcase is always full of exciting new trailers and reveals, and one of this year’s surprises was Rainbow Six Tactics. Borrowing operators from Rainbow Six Siege, this new single-player adventure has players navigate a campaign of turn-based tactics gameplay, complete with all the gadgets and destructible environments you expect from the core games. Check the trailer out for yourself below.

Rainbow Six Tactics sends players on an operation to fight terrorists in missions all over the world. Each map is handcrafted, with varying objectives that might require you to defuse bombs, capture a VIP, or rescue hostages. Levels also include a breach phase, where you coordinate your units to enter the map in sync, busting down doors and blowing up walls.

You’ll command 15 notable operators featured in Rainbow Six Siege, including Nøkk, Glaz, Ash, Doc, Montagne, Sledge, and Twitch. Each operator has their own design, gadgets, and abilities, all inspired by their toolset in Siege. Meanwhile, the narrative centers around their commander, Six, also known as Paul Bishop, the protagonist of the Rainbow Six Vegas games. Lore-wise, the story is set in the gap between Siege’s year 10 and 11, and was written in collaboration with Siege’s lore team.

Rainbow Six Tactics is strictly a single-player experience, and Ubisoft even says the game will feature no extra monetization, such as an in-game store or live-service structure. This is a reversal of the controversy surrounding Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, which included optional microtransactions, but it also further differentiates Tactics from Siege.

Ubisoft Paris has handled the game’s development, with a team comprised of veterans of the Mario + Rabbids and Ghost Recon games (as well as Just Dance, Rayman, Skull and Bones, and Star Wars Outlaws).

Rainbow Six Tactics launches in 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
